For the furnishing of Casa Ferrario (1956), Franco Albini used the typology of the lightened vertical upright, which he had already experimented with on several occasions, to devise a bookcase designed as a ceiling-to-floor structure that could also build a two-sided separating element. The basic module consists of a pair of uprights made of solid wood, walnut or rosewood, each composed of four rods, joined to the base posts and canestrelli with brass screws, drilled at a constant distance to place, according to different heights, the shelves and containers.
The dimensions of the shelves can vary in depth, on a constant measurement of eighty centimeters, while the storage units can be configured with fan or flap doors.
The bookcase is awarded the gold medal diploma, on the occasion of the exhibition “Colors and shapes in today’s home” set up at Villa Olmo in Como (1957).
Remained uninterruptedly present in the catalog of the Poggi firm, the piece is currently produced by Cassina (2008).

Per l’arredamento di Casa Ferrario (1956), Franco Albini utilizza la tipologia del montante verticale alleggerito, già sperimentata in varie occasioni, per ideare una libreria concepita come una struttura da soffitto a pavimento, che potesse costruire anche un elemento separatore bifronte. Il modulo base è costituito da una coppia di montanti in legno massiccio, in noce o palissandro, ciascuno composto da quattro aste, unite ai puntali di base e ai canestrelli con viti in ottone, forate a distanza costante per collocare, secondo altezze differenti, le mensole e i contenitori.
Le dimensioni dei ripiani possono variare in profondità, su una misura costante di ottanta centimetri, mentre i contenitori possono essere configurati con ante a ventola o ribalta.
La libreria è premiata con il diploma della medaglia d’oro, in occasione della mostra “Colori e forme nella casa d’oggi” allestita a Villa Olmo a Como (1957).
Rimasta presente ininterrottamente nel catalogo della ditta Poggi, il pezzo è attualmente prodotto da Cassina (2008).
